This is a great report from the Austin Chamber of Commerce on job growth and unemployment in Austin, one of the top cities in the U.S. for growth.
Report Highlights:
- Austin is made the second fastest growing major metro area after adding 43,400 net new jobs, at a growth of 4.7% in the 12 months ending in January. Dallas (4.5%) followed Austin at third place. Texas’ other three major metros (San Antonio, Forth Worth and Houston) were not in the top 10.
- The annual average job growth for 2014-2015 was previously estimated at 3.3%, and boosted to 4.7% after annual benchmark revisions completed in March.
- Austin’s unemployment rate, adjusted seasonally, improved to 3.2% from 3.3% in December.
